Socialite Don Chris, real name Asiimwe Christian, has finally agreed to hand himself over to the police, but on his own terms and conditions.

Yesterday, Mr. Mudenyi Simon, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, addressed the press regarding the job scam involving socialite Don Chris, whose real name is Christian Asiimwe.

Mr. Mudenyi revealed that 350 desperate Ugandans had reported being scammed of over 1.4 billion in total by Don Chris under his travel company, Skypins. He noted that the culprit enticed them to pay half of the money initially and settle the rest of the balance after they had settled into their jobs. He confirmed that he fled through the Malaba border on June 20th.

In all this, Mr. Mudenyi confirmed that investigations were underway into the case and gave Don Chris a chance to hand himself in to the police to give his side of the story.

Don Chris, in a video shared with BBS TV, appreciated Mr. Mudenyi, claiming he was only waiting for the official summons from Uganda Police for him to hand himself in. He further set his conditions if they were to get a statement from him.

Don Chris cautioned them that he was not to be arrested if he showed up at the station. He also denied being the owner of Skypin Tour and Travels but agreed to represent the company in the ongoing case.

“I appreciate Simon for what he said, and I ask the Uganda Police to summon me to get my side of the story officially. I will only come if I receive that summons, because I want to do everything within the law. Will report myself and share my side of the story, but I have a condition: please do not arrest me when I arrive. I’m open to negotiations. I want to remind you all that I’m not the owner of Skypins, but I can stand in as a representative for these negotiations,” he said.

Don Chris further denied the Internal Affairs report, claiming that the amount in question was 1.4 billion, as previously stated by Mr. Mudenyi. He claimed that the figures were being forged by Hon. Balaam, who he said had intentions of extorting money from the president under the pretense of compensating the victims.

“Police at first claimed that it was 500 million, yet to me, it was 600 million. We agreed I would pay 200 million to calm the situation down.

Now Uganda Police is coming up with fresh allegations claiming that it was 1.75 billion. I have been alerted that Balaam wants to go to the President with tha figure and take the rest. I want to clear the air that the money is not that much. But because the president is currently campaigning, these people want to use this chance to defraud him,” he said.
