Musician Lil Pazo has clapped back at music critics who keep insisting that he will not advance in his career because his music is local.
The conversation came to light following Joshua Baraka’s recent significant milestone that saw him perform at one of the biggest music festivals in the world. He represented Uganda at Afro Nation in Portugal, where the crowds welcomed him wholeheartedly.
During a phone interview at Sanyuka TV, Lil Pazo, comparing Joshua Baraka’s career, explained that every artist can thrive with their audience.
He emphasized that international stages are not his target, and he will focus on making music for the local markets because that is where his fan base is.
Go back to our villages and stage a show featuring Joshua Baraka and Lil Pazo. You will see where the villagers will flock. We can all reap from this industry with what we are doing and be content. You cannot force me to go international yet I do not even know English, he said.
Lil Pazo’s music career was stagnant from the release of his breakthrough song ‘Gula Emotoka’ in 2017. He, however, rose through the charts with his controversial hit ‘Enkudi’. The song was massively dueted on TikTok, bringing back Lil Pazo’s relevancy in the media.

In the same interview, he has credited the video-sharing app for keeping him and his music afloat and has garnered a number of fans there.
You keep telling me to go off TikTok yet that is where my market is. I can’t leave that app because it trended my song without even a video. That is where the market for my music is. My words and my presence on the app have contributed 85% of what I am today. That is like God giving me a second chance in my career especially after my sickness, he stressed.
