A 35-year-old woman has been arrested by Uganda Police in Kamuli for allegedly attempting to murder her husband by chopping his genitals.
The incident took place on the night of February 18, 2025, at their home in Buguwa village, Kawaga Parish, Balawoli Subcounty, Kamuli District.
The suspect, identified as Kevin Nabirye, is accused of attacking her 37-year-old husband, Mathias Bwamiki in what appears to be an act of violent retaliation linked to ongoing tensions in their marriage.
According to the victim, the night of the assault started as any other, with the couple sharing a meal before retiring to bed.
After a request for sexual intercourse by the wife, Bwamiki claims she attacked him, cutting off his genitals while accusing him of disrespectfully comparing her to TikTok women.
“We had a meal together at 9:00pm and we went to bed, she requested to have conjugal rights, which i consented, however after the act, when i was resting a bit, she grabbed my genitals and cut it off,” he said.
The victim who is undergoing treatment at Kamuli General Hospital recalled that, as the attack unfolded, his wife uttered the words, “Why do you compare me to TikTok women?”
He said he tried to grab her in an attempt to defend himself, but she pleaded for her life, telling him she had already taken poison.
“Dont kill me because i have already taken poison” Bwamiki recalls his wife saying.
Police spokesperson, Micheal Kasadha, confirmed that the victim’s brother, Godfrey Mukubo, received a distressing phone call from Bamwiki, who informed him of the brutal assault.
Upon arriving at the scene, Mukubo found his brother in a pool of blood, still struggling with his wife. He immediately intervened and reported the incident to the authorities.
Bwamiki was rushed to Kamuli General Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment for his injuries.
Initial investigations suggest that the attack stemmed from an argument over Bwamiki’s’ repeated comparisons of his wife to women he had seen on TikTok, who he claimed were more attractive.
The incident has shocked the local community, as a similar attack occurred in June last year in Kamuli when a 34-year-old woman, Suzan Namuganza, resident of Nabwigulu severed her husband’s genitals following a domestic dispute.
Police have recovered critical evidence from the scene and are continuing their investigations.
The suspect remains in custody, facing charges of attempted murder, while authorities work to uncover further details of the couple’s troubled relationship.
As the investigation unfolds, residents are left grappling with the alarming trend of domestic violence escalating into extreme acts of violence in the district.
