Saudi Arabian budget airline Flynas is set to expand its network across Africa by adding two new destinations beginning in January 2025.

The airline announced that it will start flights to Entebbe, Uganda, and Djibouti from January 8, with three weekly flights operating from Riyadh to Entebbe and the same frequency from Jeddah to Djibouti.

This route expansion aligns with flynas’s “We Connect the World to the Kingdom” initiative, supporting Saudi Arabia’s National Civil Aviation Strategy. A key aim of this strategy is to enhance international connectivity by reaching 250 destinations and serving 330 million passengers.

The new routes to Uganda and Djibouti contribute to Saudi Arabia’s tourism goals, particularly its target of 150 million annual tourists by 2030. These routes also support the Pilgrims Experience Program, which aims to simplify travel for pilgrims visiting the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah.

This latest announcement follows flynas’s recent expansion of its domestic seat capacity by more than 480,000 on routes to cities like Taif, Abha, and Al-Baha over the summer—a 21% increase from last year.

flynas also continues to bolster its fleet, with its 53rd A320neo arriving in Riyadh this July as part of its 120-Airbus order. At the UK’s Farnborough International Airshow, the airline signed an agreement to nearly double its fleet with an additional 160 Airbus jets, including 30 A330neos and 130 A320s, marking a substantial investment in growth.

CEO and Managing Director Bander Al-Mohanna described the agreement as instrumental in establishing flynas as a global leader among low-cost carriers. Since its founding in 2007, flynas has transported over 80 million passengers across more than 70 domestic and international destinations, currently operating 1,500 flights each week.
