Ministry of Education and Sports has temporarily suspended musicians from performing in schools.
The Ministry’s decision stems from the sky-rocketing vice of musicians storming school performances while dressed in a way that is deemed unpleasant to the kids.
The debate regarding artists’ indecency in schools was fueled by Tororo Minister Sarah Opendi who urged the Ministry of Education to take interest in the matter.
It is for the reasons above that the Ministry of Education and Sports through its permanent secretary warned Head Teachers and Principles of Government and private, Secondary, and primary schools against hiring musicians to perform at school concerts henceforth.
Going by the letter making rounds on social media, the Ministry will provide guidelines on the nature and conduct of co-curricular and entertainment activities allowed in schools.
The Ministry of Education and Sports further vowed to hold responsible and disciplinary measures charged against school managers who will fail to comply with the notice.
Furthermore, the Ministry has pledged to avail clearer guidelines regarding artist performances in schools at a later date.
