Former Ethics and Integrity Minister, Dr. Miria Matembe has said this government only cares about staying in power.

According to her, the government doesn’t care about Ugandans and this is why they are quiet about the ongoing inflation.

“I am not an economist, but I do not think that the government cares about Ugandans. What drives this government is staying in power. The government has left us suffering and hoping that something good falls from heaven.”

On the other hand, Hon. Semujju Nganda says, the government might have secretly decided to keep quiet about the ongoing crisis untill things just get back to normal.

“I think the government has quietly decided not to intervene on the issue of rising prices. That is why they will blame the war in Ukraine. They are trying to buy time as they pray for things to return to normal.”

However, Chris Baryomunsi insists that the reasons why the economy is frustrated are completely external.

“The factors causing a rise in prices are largely external, and that is why it is being experienced around the world. The other time I addressed the media and told them the Russia-Ukraine war had affected prices, and people laughed. I told them that their laughter was out of ignorance.”

This talk is obviously not about to get old until the government comes out to give a report on what is really going on. Otherwise, this economic crisis is frustrating many Ugandans.
