The State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SHACU) headed by Lt Col Edith Nakalema has arrested Sirajje Ssemanda, a lead pastor at Revival Ministries Church, Bombo.

Ssemanda was arrested for allegedly defrauding over 400 private school owners and thousands of parents of vulnerable children.

SHACU announced on Sunday that Ssemanda took over Shs 4bn from people, promising them scholarships, trips abroad and connecting them to Operation Wealth Creation.

Ssemanda was picked from Mutukula border as he attempted to escape to Tanzania.

“Mr Sirajje Ssemanda a lead pastor at Revival Ministries Church, Bombo has been arrested along the Mutukula border as he tried to escape to Tanzania for allegedly defrauding over 400 private school owners and thousands of parents of vulnerable children,” said the State House Anti-Corruption Unit.

On Saturday, Ssemanda, together with fellow pastor Franklin Mondo were reported to Lt Col Edith Nakalema, for allegedly defrauding billions of shillings from people on grounds of taking them on trip to Israel.

Nakalema promised to take action by arresting the accused.

However, the State House Anti-Corruption Unit did not announce whether pastor Mondo had also been arrested.

Cases of pastors defrauding people have been on the rise in recent years.
