The Ministry of Health on Thursday confirmed one new COVID-19 case bringing the total number of cases in the country to 101.
“The COVID-19 confirmed cases are now 101 in Uganda,” announced Dr Henry Mwebesa, Director General Health Services.
The confirmed case is 32-year-old Tanzanian truck driver who arrived from Tanzania via Mutukula border.
The case was confirmed out of 3,091 samples of truck drivers tested on Thursday.
All 718 cases from the community tested negative for COVID-19.
A total of 3,809 samples were tested for COVID-19 on Thursday.
Currently, Uganda has a total number of 101 COVID-19 confirmed cases, 55 recoveries and 32 active cases.
14 cases were repatriated to their respective countries after they tested positive for COVID-19 in Uganda.
After 14 cases were repatriated to their respective countries, Uganda was advised to follow World Health Organization (WHO) International Health Regulations (IHR) which require that every case is counted and treated in a country where it was tested and confirmed.
Since then, Uganda has not repatriated any other cases as all confirmed cases are tested and treated in Uganda irrespective of their nationality.
