    On April 19th 2020, President Yoweri Museveni announced during his national address that Al Hajj Hassan Basajjablaba a businessman and philanthropist has donated UGX 100,000,000 to the national COVID-19 Taskforce. 

    Previously, the business magnate who is also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Kampala International University, oversaw the implementation of a series of measures at the KIU Teaching Hospital in Ishaka for Coronavirus preparedness. 

    Among others, these measures include, establishing a rapid response unit and an isolation ward which holds patients who fit the case definition as per the Ministry of Health and WHO guidelines, COVID-19 awareness sensitization on community radio and setting up a full time Information Desk.

    Basajjablaba is currently the Bushenyi District NRM chairman.
