President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on December 14 announced what was described as a mini-reshuffle – retaining most of his royalists; promoting as well as dropping key faces on a rainy Saturday.

Raphael Magyezi – the face behind the controversial 2018 age limit amendment, made his way onto the new cabinet list – taking over the new Minister of Local Government as Irene Muloni lost her Energy portfolio to become a puppet in an advisory role.

Muloni had in the recent weeks, defended the misappropriation of ugx 26 billion meant to construct a bridge linking Busoga to Buganda from Kayunga district under the Izimba power project.

Mary Kitutu was announced as Muloni’s replacement on the day former Uganda Police spokesman person Judith Nabakooba’s accelerated raise into the country’s ranks continued as she become the new  Information and ICT Minister replacing one of the regime’s eyed boys – Frank Tumwebaze, who was posted to the East African Affairs’ office.

On the same day, the sports fraternity registered another surprise entry into office when Hamson Denis Obua was announced as Charles Bakabulindi’s replacement after 15 years.

Obua, who on December 11 led a delegation of parliamentarians that ‘welcomed’ Fufa president Moses Magogo from a Fifa-sanctioned two-month ‘jail’ for misappropriation of World Cup tickets, takes over from Bakkabulindi, who had presided over a series of scandals in the country’s sports arena.

Gen Charles Wamala Katumba takes over the Transport ministry from Monica Azuba, who was as well relegated to the role of a presidential advisor.
