Former spy chief, Gen David Sejusa in his Thursday address to the media said he had learnt of a plot by the UPDF to have him arrested.
But he said that as a person who started commanding battalions at the age of 24, and went on to raise through the ranks to where he is, is not afraid of what he called “acts of intimidation”.
And just hours after his address, his home in Naguru has been surrounded by the military.
According to Vincent Magombe, the Spokesperson of Sejusa’s party, two military trucks full of soldiers are surrounding the home is being commanded by Gen Moses Ali.
“No one, not even his lawyers are being allowed to talk to the Free Uganda Chairman. Free Uganda continues to re- assure all Ugandans that this intimidation and harassment will not divert the liberation platform from its set mission of calling for change in the way Uganda is governed,” Magombe says in a statement.
He however warns that arresting Sejusa will only make matters worse for the regime.
“Gen Sejusa has applied for retirement from the army so that he can participate in the politics of Uganda as a free citizen.”
But army Spokesperson Lt Col Paddy Ankunda says that there is no cause for alarm, saying this is what the General wanted since he was scared for his life.
The siege comes on a day when Sejusa was scheduled to meet the president at his upcountry home in Rwakitura, a request he openly turned down during Thursday’s press conference.
