Court in Entebbe presided over by Grade one magistrate Beatrice Kainza on Wednesday evening rejected two sureties that singer Lyto Boss had paraded before court to bail him out. The sureties include Betty Namuddu and Robert Sentamu both residents of ‘Kawoto B’ zone in Kampala District were kicked aside from bailing out their colleague because of expired identity cards. The magistrate told court that the duo presented expired LC1 letters dated 24th July 2015 yet they were supposed to present current LC1 Letters dated 26th August 2015 so as to secure bail for the accused. The magistrate told court that she concurs with objections raised by prosecution to deny bail application to Lyto Boss on grounds that sureties had outdated LC1 letters.
However this didn’t go well with Lyto Boss’ lawyer Arthur Mpeirwe who bashed the magistrate citing unfairness in handling his client whom he insists had substantive sureties. He threatened to petition the Director Public Prosecution (DPP) Michael Chibita to intervene in the matter such that his client receives justice as required by law. Lyto Boss whose real name is Derrick Katongole was remanded to Kigo Prisons till 31 August 2015 for conspiring with singer Catherine Kusasira and duped fusion Records Shs 1m meant for a song entitled “Ajangala”. According to police Lyto Boss was arrested at Tosha Petrol station in Makerere/Kivulu zone following issuance of numerous warrant of arrest to apprehend him.
