Former Uganda Peoples Defence Forces Chief (Rtd) Maj. Julius Rubahimbya has vowed to sweep the 2016 parliamentary elections in Entebbe on the Ruling National Resistance Movement ticket. Rubahimbya who spoke to entebbenews in an interview revealed that he is the right man to lead the people of Entebbe in Parliament and he is ready to face off with other aspirants in the upcoming party primaries.
“For the last 18 years I’ve been the political commissar of Entebbe Municipality. I’ve looked at the problems of the town, I’ve analyzed them and I’ve prescribed solutions which I’ll present in my manifesto plan” Rubahimbya stated.
“I’ve a new message and a new approach to the challenges facing the residents of Entebbe and I’m ready to roll in the mud in the upcoming campaigns because the current leadership has failed to offer viable solutions to the challenges facing the residents” he stressed.
Rubahimbya also revealed that in his manifesto plan the youth are his main focus because they face the brunt of the challenges and are highly vulnerable.
“Many of the youth stand by the road side from morning to evening looking at cars because they have nothing to do. There’s need to think outside the box to create employment opportunities for them” he noted.
He continued: “Entebbe has a small constituency which is easy to mobilize, it has the highest number of educated people, it ‘s surrounded by Lake Victoria, it has the highest number on pay roll, it is the only town with an Airport and it’s highly secure, it has the highest number of entertainment and leisure centres. All these are opportunities that can be harnessed to create employment opportunities for the youth”
Rubahimbya who also lectures political economy and philosophy at Kyakwanzi political institute says he has the experience and brain power to transform the lives of the people of Entebbe.
“We either win or they lose but I’m confident that the people of Entebbe will elect me as their Member of Parliament in next year’s general elections” he said.
